The chariot.
So this friday I went to the highground to see Iwrestledabearonce, Chelsea Grin, Vanna, and The chariot. I mainly just went to see the chariot. It was probably the most intense thing I’ve ever seen. Everyone in that band is crazyy. They were soo good. They were hanging from the rafters, stage diving constantly, throwing their guitars on the ground and stuff, and just running around being crazy. It was the most insane performance I’ve ever seen in my life. I thought they were just crazy dudes who liked to have fun at shows. After they played, me zac and eric went upstairs to talk to them. We had the longest conversation ever with the bass player. He was one of the crazier ones in the band. He like freaked out when they played the most. We got to talking with him for a while, and we at first thought they liked to get down at shows and stuff. But they actually weren’t “crazy” at shows. They were more of just “excited” to get to be there and do what they love. The bass player told us his name was wolf. He said he had no house, no car, no girlfriend, no college, didnt finish highschool, and hardly ever even ate dinner every night due to not having enough money. He said it was a treat for him the day before to go to wal mart and buy some bread and peanut butter to eat. He wasn’t complaining though. He was probably then nicest guy I’ve ever talked to. He wasn’t just in the band to be in a band cause he loves music and stuff. He was just so excited to get to have fun at shows and get to talk to fans after and help them out with their problems and just be a nice guy. He even said that everything happens for a reason, and that if god put him in the chariot for 5 years just to talk to the three of us that night then quit the band, he would be completely content with that. That made me realize that music isn’t about money. Music isn’t about getting girls. Music isn’t about being rich. Music isn’t about playing shows then sitting up in your tour bus until the show is done and it’s time to leave and not talking to fans. Music was about doing your own thing no matter what anyone else thought, and to just do what you love and be as big of an inspiration as possible. Don’t use your level of popularity with fans to have sex with girls, drugs, and other things that don’t matter. You should use that for inspiring people to do waht god tells them to do and follow their heart. After talking to him for a good 45 minutes, it was getting late and time for us to leave. At the beginning when we first met him, he told us his nickname was “wolf”. When we were saying bye he told us his name was Johnathan, and that he loved us.
